Community members can expect a fun-fueled time in the City of Knox, with the Peppermint Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony scheduled for today!
Participants can begin lining up at 3 p.m. at the Knox Elementary School and the Peppermint Parade will begin at 3:30 p.m.
Keep an eye out for WKVI morning show host Charlie Adams who is serving as an emcee for the event as well as Sportscaster Nathan Welter who will be driving our radio-mobile in the parade. Ted Hayes will also emcee the event.
A reviewing stand will be stationed at the intersection of Lake and Main Streets and the parade will conclude at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center.
The students who were selected as the winner and the finalists in “What Christmas Means to Me” essay contest have a chance to play a role in the parade as well as the tree lighting ceremony, which will be held at the Community Center immediately following the parade.
The festivities will continue once the tree is lit. Santa Claus will be stationed indoors to visit with all the children who come by and his little helpers will be serving up hot cocoa, cider and s’mores. Parents are encouraged to bring along their own camera to capture all the fun.
