A special event request for the 2019 Mint Fest was approved at Monday night’s North Judson Town Council meeting.
Event organizer Donna Henry presented council members with some information about this summer’s event which will be held on Saturday, June 15 and Sunday, June 16th.
Before providing specific details she expressed her gratitude for past support.
“We do certainly want to thank the council for all the support for the Mint Fest, for of course the last 42 years and we’re looking forward to a great 43rd Mint Fest this year.”
She went on to highlight the fact that local businesses benefit from the festival being held in town.
Henry added that she submitted festival plans to Town Marshal Kelly Fisher for review and Fisher provided her approval for all sections that would involve the Police Department.
Event organizers are already proactively thinking about the potential complications that the town’s water project may present. Henry said she will meet with Interim Town Superintendent Randy Schwartz soon to coordinate about any roads that may be unavailable.
Mint Headquarters would be located on Lane Street and Henry noted that since they were a hit last year, shade tents will be positioned strategically throughout the fest.
The Mint Fest committee was asking to use the 200, 300, 400 blocks of Lane Street for the bulk of the booths and events.
Henry noted they were also looking to utilize the alley way and parking area in the 300 block of Lane Street as well as the area along Adair Street that is adjacent to Luken Street and the first half block next to Pioneer. The request received unanimous council approval.
