Winamac Town Council members were recently informed that Umbaugh, the firm they utilize as a financial advisor, is currently in the process of merging with two other companies.
Clerk-Treasurer Melanie Berger shared some preliminary information about the merger when council members met Monday evening.
She stated, “Umbaugh is looking to merge with two other firms. They’ll become ‘Baker-Tilly’ once the merger is complete. Eric [Walsh] said that he would be more than willing to attend a council meeting to talk with you all further about it”
According to a letter that Clerk-Treasurer Berger received and shared with the council members, Umbaugh will be joining with Springsted, Inc and Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP to become “one of the strongest municipal advisory and public finance practices in the business.”
Council President Tom Murray asked if Eric Walsh will continue serving as the firm’s representative for the Town.
Murray asked, “Do you feel that with this merger, we’ll still be dealing with Eric [Walsh] like we do? Because we’ve had a good relationship with them in the past, I’m just hoping it will stay that way.”
Clerk-Treasurer Berger responded that Walsh will still be working with Winamac and added that she’s confident the same quality of service will be provided after the merger.
Officials from firm shared that they anticipate the combination to be effective in the first quarter of this year. The office locations and phone numbers in Indianapolis, Mishawaka, Lansing and Columbus will remain the same.
