Winamac Town Council members made a number of appointments when they met Monday night.
There was one open spot on the park board, following the resignation of Courtney Poor.
Council President Tom Murray noted that Bob Powers volunteered to fill that seat. Councilwoman Judy Heater asked if anyone else indicated that they were interested in serving on the board.
Town Manager Brad Zellers noted that Steve Miller also threw his hat in the ring. Councilman Dave Schambers mentioned that before it was an official board Miller served on the Park committee. A motion was made to appoint Miller to the open Park Board seat and it passed.
Council members were also required to take action on a Winamac Economic Development Commission appointment. Clerk-Treasurer Melanie Berger reminded members that Jenny Kasten replaced commission member Alex Haschel prior to the end of his term. With his term up, she is now eligible for a four-year term of her own. Members voted unanimously to appoint her to the position.
Additionally, Jeremy Wagner was re-appointed to the Airport Board, Clerk-Treasurer Melanie Berger was retained as the Town’s Main Street representative and Waylon Burke will continue to serve as the Town Council appointment on the Star City Sewer District.
The Council also re-appointed Tim Murray to the Alcohol Beverage Control Board, determined that John Simmermaker will represent Winamac on the Kankakee Iroquois Planning Commission and chose Sheila Jimenez to be the town’s representative on the Community Development Commission of Pulaski County.
Members tabled the appointment for the Pulaski County Wellness Center because they were not aware of anyone who was interested in filling the open position.
