Funding for Winamac Lighting Project May be Coming in Sooner Than Expected

Winamac officials recently learned that the Town may be receiving a lighting grant sooner than they expected.

When the council met for their regular session last Monday, Town Manager Brad Zellers told them he received word that the lighting grant they applied for through INDOT could be available to them as soon as this fall.

He noted that typically with that grant, municipalities can be on the waiting list for anywhere from 2 ½ to 5 years.

The grant will be utilized to redo street and sidewalk lighting in town.

He encouraged the members to check out the black, decorative light pole that is near the new restrooms. He said they were able to receive that item as a demo and noted that they’re considering getting more for the light replacement project. Members were asked to inform Zellers of any input they have about the matter.
