Knox Mayor Covers Potential Funding Source for Widening Wythogan Park Entrance

Community Crossing Grant funds could be used to help widen the entryway at Wythogan Park in Knox.

Knox Mayor Dennis Estok talked with city council members about the possibility of including the road that leads into the park on their grant application during his report at last Tuesday’s city council meeting.

The Mayor explained, “That is Bridge Street, going down, that goes all the way around the park and it is on the inventory for our roads so I think we’re going to submit that for the Community Crossing Grant this year which means if we get it this year, it won’t be done until next year.”

Estok noted that the Community Crossings money will cover the roadway, the curbs and sidewalks but not the wall.

He asked members to start thinking about if they’d like to match the same stone pattern or if they’d like to go with something new. If they go with the same pattern, they would only need to replace one side of the entrance and if they go with a new design, both parts will have to be constructed from scratch.
