A mother and son and a father and son were all arrested this week, in a pair of investigations by the LaPorte County Drug Task Force. Police say Michelle Burgess, 46, of LaPorte, and Kolin Burgess, 20, of Kouts, were taken into custody, following an investigation on the distribution of heroin and meth in the City of LaPorte. Both face Level 5 felony charges of dealing in methamphetamine, while Michelle Burgess is also accused of the Level 5 felony of dealing in a narcotic drug.
In the other case, Darwin Van Sr., 63, and Darwin Van Jr., 33, were arrested, after police say they got information that they were dealing cocaine from their home in Michigan City. Officers say Van Sr. was taken into custody without incident, while Van Jr. allegedly led officers on a vehicle chase for several miles through Michigan City, before he was finally apprehended on Michigan Boulevard near Warnke Road. Both of them faces Level 4 felony charges of dealing in cocaine. Van Jr. was also charged with the Level 6 felony of resisting law enforcement.
