Pulaski County officials are looking at lowering the speed limit on Tpac Road. Commissioner Jerry Locke raised the issue during last week’s meeting, at the request of a local resident.
The road currently has no speed limit signs, making the speed limit 55 miles per hour. Highway Superintendent Terry Ruff suggested lowering that to about 35. “There’s nothing wrong with that,” Ruff said. “We’ve got a little apartment building there, and I don’t know, the factory guys all come out of there at night. Really, it’s a wonder somebody hasn’t complained before, so I don’t see no big deal. If you want to go 40 or 35 for everybody’s safety, that would be alright with me.”
Lowering the speed limit would require the approval of both the board of commissioners and the county council. No formal vote was taken, but the commissioners agreed it would be worth bringing the issue up to the council.
