Winamac PD’s New Hire Completes 40-hour Pre-Basic Training

Winamac Police Officer Jeff Johnston

Winamac Town Marshal Mark Hoffman provided Town Council members with an update about the Police Department’s most recent hire, Jeff Johnston, when they met Monday night.

Hoffman shared, “Jeff has completed his 40-hour pre-basic. The Academy has approved his training. He has been sworn in and tonight is his first night in uniform.”

Marshal Hoffman noted that the next Academy course was all full but they will get Officer Johnston enrolled in a class as soon as possible. He mentioned that the officer has a year to complete the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy training.

In addition to sharing Johnston’s recent accomplishment, Marshal Hoffman noted that the department’s reserve officers have also completed their 40-hour pre-basic training requirement.
