City of Knox Finalizes Tax Certificate Sale Process on Spruce Drive Property

Knox City Council members received an update about a Parkview property from Clerk-Treasurer Jeff Houston when they met Tuesday evening.

Houston explained, “We’ve been going through the process of going through a tax certificate sale with the county. We paid $35 for a property in Parkview, 315 Spruce Drive.”

Clerk-Treasurer Houston said that the process of obtaining the property is now complete and the City now has the deed. He said after incorporating lawyer fees and other associated costs, this course of action cost the City a couple hundred dollars.

He told members that they’ve already made some major improvements on the Spruce Drive property.

Houston noted, “There had been a fire in that property and so there was a foundation and people starting using it as kind of a makeshift dump so we did get that property cleaned up.”

He mentioned all that remains is some grading work that needs to be done on the property.
