The Pulaski County Commissioners have issued some direction on the purchase of fuel. They voted last week to have the departments that use county fuel get competitive bids from local distributors on a load-by-load basis.
The motion was made after representatives from Good Oil told the commissioners they’d like to have a chance to bid on all the county’s fuel purchases. They said other counties typically solicit bids by email whenever they need to purchase a load.
The procedure will apply to departments that use large amounts of fuel, such as the Highway and EMS departments, and possibly some others. The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department already has its own agreement with Good Oil, where the company fills up the department’s tanks on a regular basis.
