A unique opportunity for local business owners was highlighted during Tuesday night’s Knox City Council meeting.
Mayor Dennis Estok reminded council members and meeting attendees about this Saturday’s Pop-Up Store ribbon cutting.
Officials will be unveiling the new establishment at 10 S. Main Street tomorrow at 12 p.m.
The ribbon cutting will be immediately followed by an open house where prospective tenants can check out the layout and acquire an application to potentially occupy some space.
This pilot project aimed at revitalizing the downtown area has been discussed for several months but it officially kicked off last summer after the Redevelopment Commission purchased the Main Street property.
Now that some needed renovations have been completed, the building is ready to house local entrepreneurs looking for a place to sell and showcase products or services to area residents and tourists.
Low start up fees will be offered to small businesses with the hope of giving them a head start in becoming successful. If selected, an agreement will be provided and a location assignment will be made by city officials.
