The Hamlet Town Council continues to look into potential locations for an electronic message board. Last year, council members discussed placing an LED sign in front of the Town Hall.
During Wednesday’s meeting, Council President Dave Kesvormas said it might be easier to hang it on the wall of the old fire station. “We would only have to punch one hole. Electric and everything is all in that building already.” He said that would also save the cost of running electrical lines and mounting the sign in the Town Hall’s front yard.
Council members have been discussing the idea of getting a message board since last summer. At the time, Kesvormas said he could get a a full-color, eight-and-a-half-by-three foot LED sign, for just under $2,900. The idea was that town officials could post information but also potentially sell advertising.
Meanwhile, the town council moved its next meeting back a day. It will be held Thursday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Hamlet Town Hall.
