Knox Board of Works members reviewed progress made at a South Portland Street address when members met last Wednesday.
When members met in March, they were informed of a series of compliance issues at Portland Street property. They were given a month to address the issues under the condition that if the property was not clean, a $500 fine would be imposed.
Director of Building and Code Compliance Kenny Pfost showed members some pictures of the property and shared the updated conditions when they met last week.
He explained, “That place, there has been a lot of progress made; the brush is gone, the camper is gone, the majority of the trash is gone now.”
Pfost explained that there were still some tires and propane cylinders that were on the property.
One of the owners was in attendance at Wednesday’s meeting noted that they were planning to make some planters with the tires and said they weren’t sure where they were allowed to dispose of the propane tanks.
After some discussion, Street Superintendent Jeff Borg noted that his department could provide assistance with removing those items from the property.
Since an obvious effort was made to comply with the city’s codes, board members voted not to enforce the conditional fine against the Portland Street property owners.
