If you are a resident or business owner in Knox who has been looking to spruce up the sidewalk adjacent to your property you have a chance to receive some financial assistance to do so through the City’s 2019 Sidewalk Replacement Program.
Through this program, the City of Knox will pay 50 percent of the cost of material and labor for sidewalk replacement. The opportunity will be available on a first come, first served basis until the funds to support the program run out.
According to a press release issued by the Mayor’s Office, the Street Superintendent will measure and inspect the request and approve or disapprove the work order.
After the bid is awarded o the contractor, the property owner will be notified of the cost and must pay 50 percent to the City before construction will begin.
The property owners’ share must be paid within 14 days of the notification other wise the project will be placed on the bottom of the work schedule.
Upon the completion of the work, the Street Superintendent will make a final inspection and approve payment to the contractor.
