Winamac Town Manager Proposes Camera Upgrade in Town Woods

A recent incident in the Winamac Town Woods has Town Manager Brad Zellers looking to upgrade one of the cameras there.

When the town council met last week, Zellers reminded members that there is some surveillance out at the town woods.

He noted, “We have three cameras out there to monitor people dumping things. It is handy, we have caught several people.”

He explained that when they are able to decipher who is responsible, officials have had success in making them clean up their messes. However, Zellers indicated that replacing one of the cameras could help them identify and catch even more culprits who leave items behind in the woods.

Zellers told members, “We had somebody dump a bunch of stuff they shouldn’t of,” He continued, “I’d like to upgrade one of the cameras so it’s a little better to where we could actually see license plates and things…they’re just a little grainy and we can’t do that.”

Zellers was advised to bring in a cost estimate for the council members to consider.

He noted that with this most recent case, the tape was shown to Town Marshal Mark Hoffman and he’s coordinating with Pulaski County law enforcement to see if they can help identify the guilty party.
