Winamac Officials Approve Updated Ordinance for Utilities Complex

An ordinance related to the use of the Winamac Utilities Complex came before council members at their meeting this week.

Clerk-Treasurer Melanie Berger explained that the ordinance was first enacted in January of 1996 and noted that a lot has changed since then.

She noted, “The Police Department isn’t out here any longer so they were paying rent on the building now they won’t need to do that. The Water Department is still out here, they would pay $6,000 per year.”

Berger continued, “The Street Department is still out here, they would pay $3,000 per year. The Electric Department would take care of all the utilities, like they have in the past.”

Council members voted unanimously to approve the ordinance with the new occupancy adjustments.
