The Sandy Acres Park Improvement Grant was discussed with Knox City Council members Tuesday night.
Clerk-Treasurer Jeff Houston reminded members that the potential grant is worth $215,000. He noted that the application is due by Saturday, June 1st.
Houston also provided them with an overview of the process timeline.
He explained, “The State makes a recommendation to the federal government and then the federal government could take six to eighteen months for the final okay.”
When city council members approved a resolution related to the grant back in April, Park Board President and City Attorney Autumn Ferch shared a bit about the project.
She mentioned that the improvement project will involve installing permanent restrooms a new shelter and blacktopping the parking lot. It will also include putting lighting around the parking lot and installing sidewalks to all amenities at Sandy Acres.
