The Culver Community Schools Corporation’s breakfast and lunch prices will stay the same for another year. Superintendent Karen Shuman previously said that the school corporation was asked to raise prices by 19 cents, but on Monday, she told the school board that a waiver has officially been granted.
“That they give to us because we have a positive balance for the three series of months that they look at and that we can cover our costs,” Shuman explained, “so they allow us to waive that increase that they recommend.”
One change to Culver Schools’ lunch program is that preschool students will now be included. “It helps with paperwork,” Shuman said. “It helps some parents who are also also along the ‘I don’t want my kid to eat lunch every day this week.’ They want to bring their own one day. So it opens up that opportunity for parents to choose when to have their kid eat school lunch or bring a lunch.”
Shuman said school officials will be notifying parents of the change.
