Lack of Recent Teacher Raises Draws Comment during Oregon-Davis Collective Bargaining Hearing

Oregon-Davis school officials are being asked to keep in mind the lack of recent raises, as they get to work on this year’s teacher contracts. Under a new state law, school corporations and teachers associations are required to hold a public hearing before they start negotiations.

The Oregon-Davis School Corporation and the Oregon-Davis Classroom Teacher Association held their hearing Monday, according to Superintendent Dr. Don Harman. “The one public comment dealt with our teachers have not had a raise in over 10 years,” Harman says.

Once a tentative agreement is reached, another public hearing has to be held, before the school board gives its final approval.
