Pulaski County Commissioners Recommend Lower Speed Limit, Additional Signs on 400 North

Pulaski County Commissioners: Mike McClure, Jerry Locke, Kenny Becker

A stretch of Pulaski County Road 400 North may soon get a lower speed limit and a number of warning signs. The county commissioners voted Monday to lower the speed limit to 35 miles per hour between U.S. 421 and County Road 1400 West. That now goes to the county council for final approval.

The request came from resident Jack Cooper, who presented a petition from several of his neighbors. He also asked the county to add signs warning motorists of a school bus stop, a deaf person in the area, and a horse crossing. “There’s people that live on our block that ride their horses, and they cross to the neighbors’ property to ride their horses on the trail,” he explained. The commissioners agreed to pass along the request to the County Highway Department.

The residents also asked for a four-way stop at 400 North and 1400 West, but the commissioners decided to let the Sheriff’s Department study the traffic before taking any action.
