Pulaski County’s new prosecutor is now officially at full-time status.
Kelly Gaumer was chosen during a Republican Party caucus last month, and she officially took office August 4.
But she told the county council Monday that in order for her to be employed full-time, council members first had to pass a resolution, due, in part, to the county’s population. “I currently carry the caseload in Circuit Court, which is everything from murder down to Level 4 felonies,” she explained. “I’m on-call 24/7.”
Council members approved the document without any opposition. There were some concerns regarding procedure, though. Some members noted that it would be preferable that all resolutions and ordinances first go to the county attorney for review and to make sure they’re properly logged.
Gaumer told council members that she looked forward to working with them over the coming years.
