Winamac Police Officer to Lead Firearms Instruction for Fellow Officers

The Winamac Police Department will be receiving some firearms training this month, according to Town Marshal Mark Hoffman.

Hoffman shared, “This month, we have our pistol and rifle qualifications set up, so we’ll get that accomplished.”

Town Council President Tom Murray asked if Officer Tyler Campbell would be conducting the training and Marshal Hoffman confirmed that he would.

As reported in the past, Campbell initially attended training in March of 2018 in order to become a certified firearms instructor.

The Town Marshal at the time, Mike Buchanan, noted that some of the perks of having an instructor on the force would be the fact they wouldn’t have to commute to various communities or rely on other departments.

He also explained it would likely allow them to get in more training hours during the year due to the convenience.
