Knox Board of Works members were introduced to the new Water Department Superintendent Tim Lindewald when they met Wednesday morning.
Mayor Dennis Estok noted that Lindewald has been with the Department for about 2 months and brings a lot of knowledge and experience to the table. Lindewald mentioned some of the places he was previously employed and shared his qualifications.
He explained, “I operated out of the town of Kingford Heights for over 23 years, then I went to Michigan City for a while, then Walkerton. I’m a journeyman lineman, I’ve got a WT3, a DSM, a Class 1 Wastewater and a Class A Wastewater.”
One of the items Lindewald addressed in his report was that well two needs to be cleaned and refurbished. He explained that, currently, it’s running about 150 to 200 gallons per minute under par which is causing more wear and tear in the long run.
He told members that wells 1 and 3 have already had work done recently so once the issues at two are addressed, all three should be up to par for the next 7 to 10 years.
Superintendent Lindewald noted that the cost to get that taken care of would be approximately $28,000.
Clerk-Treasurer Jeff Houston noted that there are sufficient funds in the budget’s water improvement fund to support the cost of that potential project.
Members voted unanimously to allow well two to be cleaned and refurbished.
