Knox Officials Alerted about Community Center Repairs

A few repairs were recently made at the Community Center in Knox, according to Clerk-Treasurer Jeff Houston.

Houston informed City Council members last Tuesday that there were a few matters that came up that had to be addressed right away.

He explained, “We had some emergency repairs at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center. We had a plumbing problem, it was about a $600 deal.”

Houston included the cost of that repair in the invoices that came before the council for approval.  He also mentioned that the refrigerator’s air compressor went out so that part had to be replaced.

Clerk-Treasurer Houston elaborated on why it was far more cost-effective to purchase the parts rather than an entirely new fridge. He told members that the last time they checked a whole new refrigerator was approximately $5,000 to $6,000 while the necessary replacement parts only cost a little over $2,000.

He added that the bill for those parts and that repair have not been officially submitted yet.
