James Runkle’s pickup truck has turned up in Minnesota, but police are still looking for the missing 56-year-old North Judson man. Starke County Sheriff Bill Dulin says that around 2:30 Sunday morning, Two Harbors, Minnesota Police reported finding Runkle’s truck near a public access site to Lake Superior.
But officers say Runkle was not with the truck, and the kayak that was in the vehicle when he left Starke County wasn’t there, either. Dulin says the investigation is now a welfare check situation, and Two Harbors Police are trying to locate Runkle.
The Starke County Sheriff’s Department issued a Silver Alert for Runkle on September 21. He was later spotted at a gas station in western Illinois.
