Issues with the West Central School Corporation’s wind turbine have school officials exploring their maintenance options. Superintendent Dan Zylstra says it was down for repairs for much of July, something that was very noticeable to the local community.
“That was a frustration because it wasn’t working and also because, then, we weren’t generating electricity,”he explains. “So I did some research, looked at different companies that might help manage the maintenance, and we just explored that option.”
But Zylstra says the wind turbine was much better in August, following the repairs. He discussed the matter with the school board last week and says the goal is to make sure the school corporation is getting the most value out of that asset.
