The Winamac Cemetery Committee was officially dissolved when Town Council Members met Monday night.
Clerk-Treasurer Melanie Berger presented members with some details surrounding the recommendation to dissolve the formal group.
She explained, “Back in June you guys approved the Cemetery Committee and I have kind of talked with everybody a little bit. I’d like to ask the Town Council to dissolve the committee. I think we’re at a point where we can still meet as a group but all decisions come through the Council.”
She mentioned that anything that may need to be on record would be recorded when it comes before the Town Council members for consideration and action.
Town Councilwoman Judy Heater added that the group would serve in a less formal capacity as more of an advisory committee. There was no opposition presented to the request to dissolve the Cemetery Committee.
