The Winamac Town Council authorized the creation of a ‘DNR Grant Fund’ by passing an ordinance Monday night.
Clerk-Treasurer Melanie Berger reminded the council members that the Park Board received a reimbursable grant through the Indiana DNR to help cover the cost of a restroom project at the Town Park.
She said in order to receive the grant dollars and allocate the town’s match money, a fund had to be officially established.
In addition to creating the fund to receive the $132,000 from the Land and Water Conservation Fund grant, the ordinance also authorized $65,000 from the Recreation Fund, and $67,000 from the Gift Park Fund to be placed in the newly created account as match money.
The ordinance was passed without any opposition.
