The Knox City Council recently considered the 2020 Salary Ordinance.
When members met last Tuesday, Mayor Dennis Estok explained that the ordinance includes a 2 percent raise for employees as well as a 1 percent raise for department heads.
He said the Park Board’s salaries were adjusted to be comparable to other boards and noted that the council members’ salaries were increased to be more in line with standard pay for communities of the same size.
He added that the Mayor’s salary was brought up to the Clerk-Treasurer’s salary.
Members took action to approve the ordinance on first reading. In order to adopt it that night, they then suspended the rules to consider and approve it on the second and final readings. It was passed without any opposition.
