The La Porte County Sheriff’s Department recently arrested a rural Clinton Township man following a felony Battery Investigation.
According to authorities, on Tuesday, October 22nd deputies were dispatched to 10011 West US 30 regarding a battery investigation. They arrived and quickly learned the incident occurred at a residence in the 8700 south block of CR 800 West, in rural Clinton Township.
Due to initial information provided to deputies, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division were contacted to assist that evening. Police report that as the week progressed, Detective Jake Koch began to consult with La Porte County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney (DPA) Julianne Havens about the investigation.
On Friday, October 25th, detectives, along with investigators from the La Porte County Drug Task Force, executed two search warrants at the residence. The suspect, 24-year-old Jacob A. Gilmore, was found inside the residence and was transported to the Sheriff’s Office for a formal interview.
Detective Koch prepared and presented facts surrounding the investigation to DPA Havens. On Monday, October 28th, probable cause was found in La Porte County Circuit Court for the arrest of Gilmore.
He has been charged with two counts of the Level 3 Felony of Criminal Confinement, as well as one count of Criminal Confinement as a Level 4 Felony, charges of Domestic Battery and Intimidation, both Level 5 Felonies and the Level 6 Felony of Strangulation.
He remains housed in the La Porte County Jail on a $25,005 cash-only bond through Circuit Court.
