Oregon-Davis Updates Grading System for First Graders

Oregon-Davis Elementary School has updated its grading system for first graders. Superintendent Dr. Don Harman says the new grade card is designed to let parents know where their children are, when it comes to meeting state standards.

To do that, the report card is divided into 12 essential standards in both math and English/Language Arts. In each of those, students are rated on a scale of zero to four, with three being grade-level proficiency and four meaning that a student is consistently above grade level in that particular area.

Harman says teachers Kris Hinds and Heather Quinn discussed the new grading system with the school board last week.
