The Oregon-Davis School Corporation’s 2020 budget was adopted by the school board Monday, according to Superintendent Dr. Don Harman. The total proposed budget adds up to more than $8.7 million. Just over $3.6 million of that will be the Education Fund, while almost $3 million will be the Operations Fund. School officials are also budgeting just over $879,000 out of the corporation’s property tax referendum revenues.
Now, Harman says they will be working with the Indiana Department of Local Government finance to finalize the budget. As part of that process, Harman says board members authorized school officials to make any necessary cuts to the various funds. Another resolution passed Monday will allow money to be transferred between the Education and Operations funds in next year’s budget, under certain conditions.
Harman adds that several of the school corporation’s policies were updated, to include the Education and Operations funds. Those two funds were created through the consolidation of four funds, as part of the state’s restructuring of the school funding system that took place at the beginning of this year.
