Complaints about speeding cars in the area of Pulaski County Roads 400 North and 1400 West have prompted the Sheriff’s Department to increase its presence there.
Sheriff Jeff Richwine told the county commissioners last week that he recently had his chief deputy give the area some special attention. “I think he clocked maybe 100 cars in several days of sitting there,” Richwine said. “I think he wrote two tickets. Both of them were 71 miles an hour. The average speed over there was 52 miles an hour. We didn’t get anybody running the stop sign.”
On Monday, the county council and commissioners signed an ordinance officially lowering the speed limit on 400 North to 35 miles per hour between U.S. 421 and 1400 West. Both groups had already voted on the change.
Richwine said last week that officers will continue to monitor the area periodically.
