Pulaski County employees will soon have some more insurance options. Last week, the county commissioners agreed to let R & R Benefits offer supplemental medical policies to employees.
R & R representative Steve Strantz said the program would be offered on a voluntary basis and wouldn’t cost the county anything. “If they’re missing work due to a medical event, they don’t have any money coming in,” he explained. “They might have some paid time off they can use. But these programs help in that instance. If they have a major illness where they need to take time off of work or they need to travel to go see a specialist, this plan would help them.”
Strantz said that each plan pays a set dollar amount for each potential item. The program will be offered through the Assurity Life Insurance Company.
Commissioner Kenny Becker urged Strantz to explain the policies fully to employees, to make sure they understand the potential benefits.
