Knox officials were able to save several hundred dollars by personally preparing paperwork related to the sale of surplus property.
As previously reported, lots located at 304 S. Main Street, 202 N. Pearl Street, 354 Water Street, 108 North Allen Street, and 303 E. John Street were declared surplus. Board of Works members provide permission for the properties to be sold to neighboring property owners.
During his report at last Tuesday’s City Council meeting, Clerk-Treasurer Jeff Houston mentioned that the deeds and sales disclosures were prepared through the collective efforts of City Attorney Autumn Ferch, the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office and Mayor Dennis Estok.
By doing those in house, Houston said they were able to save approximately $800.
