The Eastern Pulaski Community School Corporation has named its next superintendent. Dara Chezem was officially hired for the position during Monday’s school board meeting.
She told board members that she’s honored to be selected. “Throughout the search process – it was a marathon, and I was glad to get to do that – I learned the strong academic traditions here and the community pride, and I’m excited to become a part of the team,” Chezem said. “I’m looking forward to collaborating with the staff and the students and the parents and the community members, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Chezem comes to Eastern Pulaski from Loogootee Community Schools. She says she’s held a variety of administrative positions, including assistant superintendent. Chezem adds that she’s already familiar with the Winamac community, having visited the area with her husband.
Board members welcomed Chezem to Eastern Pulaski and thanked Tom Austin with Administrator Assistance for guiding them through the search process. Chezem replaces Dan Foster, who resigned back in June, to take over as superintendent at Southeast Fountain in Veedersburg. Dr. Gib Crimmins has served as interim superintendent since then.
Chezem officially takes over as superintendent in January, but Crimmins says she plans to start meeting with staff members in December.
