A former Starke County Deputy Prosecutor was recently announced as Governor Eric Holcomb’s appointment for the Porter County Circuit Court.
Holcomb’s appointment is Mary DeBoer who has served as a magistrate for the Porter County Superior Courts in Valparaiso since 2011. In addition to her work in Starke County, DeBoer was also a deputy prosecutor in Porter County and has been in private practice.
She earned her undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University and her law degree from Valparaiso University School of Law.
DeBoer will succeed Judge Mary Harper, who holds the distinction of being the longest serving woman in the Indiana judiciary. Harper will retire on December 31st. The date that DeBoer will be sworn into office has yet to be determined.
