Knox City Council Nominates Member to Economic Development Commission

The Knox City Council nominated Bill Gustafson to the city’s Economic Development Commission during their meeting Tuesday evening.

The nomination was approved by Mayor Dennis Estok and Gustafson was appointed. Estok noted that the EDC consists of a total of 5 members; the city council gets one nomination, county council members will nominate another individual and then the Mayor selects three more. All five are appointed by Mayor Estok.

The previous members of the Knox EDC had all termed out according to Clerk-Treasurer Jeff Houston. At the time of the City Council’s meeting on Tuesday, no other appointments had been made yet.

Estok mentioned that the Economic Development Commission only meets on an as needed basis. He said they will be meeting in early December to discuss matters related to the company Common Collabs establishing a manufacturing facility on Division Road.

He added that a financial advisor from Baker Tilly will be attending that meeting in order to provide guidance about the responsibilities of the EDC members

Gustafson and the other appointments will all serve one year terms before nominations are considered once again.
