Pulaski County is getting $60,000 to make it easier for people going through the court system to get the treatment they need. Superior Court Judge Crystal Brucker Kocher discussed the funding with the county council Monday.
“We received a $60,000 grant that is going to be used to bring a treatment provider in, who is going to be there at no cost to the county, for people that go through the court system, that we can identify and immediately hook them up with treatment,” Kocher explained. “So we’re working on putting that in place.” She added that the county will have the opportunity of getting the grant renewed for another year, bringing the total funding up to $120,000.
As part of the effort, Judge Kocher said various county officials have put together a systems intercept system, which is a phased system of contact points. “What we came up with was that we needed to have a person available for those treatment options for people who couldn’t afford it,” she said.
Council President Jay Sullivan thanked Kocher for her role in securing the grant.
