Today’s the day; the annual City of Knox Christmas Peppermint Parade Event kicks off this afternoon!
Line-up for participants will start around 3 p.m. and the parade will commence at 3:30.
A reviewing stand will be located at the corner of Lake and Main Streets and Ted Hayes and Charlie Adams will be serving as the announcers.
In addition to a plethora of representatives from local businesses and organizations and the ultimate special guests, Santa & Mrs. Claus, Culver Academies’ Friesian Mounted Color Guard will be a part of this year’s parade. The six Friesian horses will be ridden by members of the Lance Platoon from the Black Horse Troop.
All entries will be judged and winners will be selected from multiple categories including the best business, non-profit and church as well as the individual/other category. There will also be a prize for the entry with the best holiday spirit.
The parade will end down in Wythogan Park and families are invited to swing by Santa’s House for pictures as well as free s’mores, cookies, cocoa, and cider. Parents should bring along something to take photos with to be able to capture the memories.
Be sure to stick around for the Christmas tree lighting ceremony that will be held at 5 p.m.
The forecast is calling for clear skies so it will be an ideal day for this annual hometown holiday celebration!
