The Eastern Pulaski School Board took action last week to correct a slight issue with the 2020 budget. Interim Superintendent Dr. Gib Crimmins says because a number didn’t carry over into the state’s budget form, the budget had to be rescinded and readopted.
“The bottom line: it’s going to be the same budget as what they adopted in October, but the state, for some technical issues, needed it redone again,” Crimmins explains. “But it really didn’t change. It’s how they neutralize some funds and so forth, but the bottom line was going to have the budget the same place as it was when they adopted it earlier in the fall.”
Eastern Pulaski’s 2020 budget totals more than $14.3 million, with almost $7.7 million of that being the Education Fund and over $4.4 million being the Operations Fund.
Crimmins says board members also gave its permission to let school officials transfer appropriations within particular funds. He explains that the action is typically taken at the end of each year to meet a legal requirement that all line items have to end up with a positive amount.
