Knox residents are reminded that individuals who receive trash pick up on Mondays and reside on the east side of Highway 35 are following a new recycling schedule.
The new schedule went into effect the first Wednesday of the month on December 4th and the impacted individuals should have received a notice in the mail alerting them of the change. Those residents will have recycling pick up again tomorrow on Wednesday, December 18th.
Meanwhile, residents who reside on the west side of Highway 35 and receive trash pickup on Thursdays will continue to follow the same recycling schedule.
The change to picking up recycling every Wednesday and splitting up the routes rather than gathering all recycling every other week was approved by City council members back in October.
Officials from Republic Services reported that this switch is expected to help them better serve the City’s residents. They shared that the past procedure made it difficult to pick up everyone’s items because there has been increase to the number of residents who recycle.
