Knox School Board to Consider High School Principal’s Resignation Tonight

The Knox School Board will consider the resignation of High School Principal Dr. Elizabeth Ratliff tonight.

According to the advance meeting agenda, the resignation would only apply to Ratliff’s administrative contract and would take effect June 30, 2020. Other personnel items up for approval tonight include the appointments of new varsity softball and volleyball coaches.

Also during tonight’s meeting, board members will be asked to accept bids for a new floor and new lower-level bleachers for the Weinberg Gym. They’ll also consider a bid for a new electronic sign. It’s been discussed for more than a year, but board members decided to wait until the facility improvement plans were finalized before officially moving ahead.

Additionally, the school board will be asked to rescind a bid for pole barn construction awarded to Arnold Lumber last month and award it to the next-lowest bidder, Cleary Construction. The 40-by-60-foot structure would be built west of the high school. It would be used to store band and athletic equipment.

A number of donations will be up for the school board’s approval tonight, and board members will also set their 2020 meeting schedule. Tonight’s Knox School Board meeting starts at 6:30 in the Knox Schools Administrative Office.
