Multiple individuals interested in providing more creative opportunities in the Constellation of Starke region recently met for an idea sharing workshop.
Up until Tuesday night, the Constellation of Starke Creatives’ Network existed solely online as a Facebook group where local people could share their own work and promote one another.
The Network took a major step this week by gathering all those people in one place in order to start planning for future events.
The term ‘creative’ is loosely defined to encompass all of the community’s artistically-inclined individuals. This can mean people who are just art lovers as well as those who make it themselves.
All crafters, bakers, photographers, gardeners, musicians, wood-workers, illustrators, knitters, writers, and anyone else who has an affinity for all things creative is invited to join this effort to organize and enhance the region’s arts and culture scene.
There was a good variety of representation during Tuesday night’s meeting, with people from all walks of life in attendance. After making introductions and highlighting potential grant opportunities, the main idea that arose from the brainstorming session was to hold an artisan maker’s market this fall.
The members of the Network will work over the next several months to solidify details but preliminary plans have the event occurring on a rural farm property in North Judson some time in late September.
Before the group parted ways, they scheduled their next meeting for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 20th at the 10-56 Brewing Company in Knox. Additional details will be shared in the Constellation of Starke Creatives’ Network Facebook Group.
