The Knox-Center Township Fire Department will be able to acquire some new equipment thanks to an action taken by former Clerk-Treasurer Jeff Houston before he left office.
Back in October, Houston informed City Council members that he applied for a safety grant through the Indiana Public Employers’ Plan (IPEP).
Houston shared that the grant funds would be utilized to purchase thermal imaging cameras that can used during fire events. He also noted that the grant itself is worth $14,400 and it will require a $3,600 match that will come out of the Fire Department’s equipment budget
According to organization officials, the safety grants are being provided to fortify IPEP’s commitment to safety and to help members bolster their own safety budgets. They note that protecting IPEP members in the workplace is their number one goal.
The grant funds will be presented to city officials in Knox City Hall on Tuesday, January 14th.
