Bids related to 2020 Community Crossings projects as well as paving work expected to occur in Wythogan and Sandy Acres Parks were opened during the Knox Board of Works’ Wednesday morning meeting.
Each of those was bid out separately. Four companies submitted bids including Walsh and Kelly, Rieth Riley, Town and Country and E&B Paving.
Rieth Riley submitted the lowest bid for the Community Crossings projects, offering to do the work for $411,169.30. They also submitted the lowest bid for paving at Sandy Acres Park but their bid for Wythogan Park came in above what was submitted by E&B Paving.
However, a representative from E&B was in attendance and said they were under the impression whoever had the lowest bid for the Community Crossings projects was going to be awarded the whole package and didn’t see an issue with awarding the whole contract to Rieth Riley.
A motion was made to award the contract to Rieth Riley, pending Street Superintendent Jeff Borg and City Attorney Autumn Ferch’s review. It was supported without any opposition.
