In order to inform the public about an ongoing death investigation, the La Porte County Sheriff’s Department will issue an official statement on Monday, January 6th.
The investigation is being conducted by detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division and began on Friday after a body was discovered in water south of Fish Lake.
According to the initial report, authorities were called to the 4300 block of South County Road 800 East around 10:00 a.m. on January 3rd.
When deputies arrived, they were able to confirm that an unknown black male was deceased. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.
