The North Judson-San Pierre School Board was presented with a lease associated with the Schools Engaging in Early Development (SEED) program when members met last week.
Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin updated members about what has taken place since the last time the program was addressed.
She explained, “In the fall we talked about SEED Early Learning leasing space from us. In the last several months, SEED Director Brandy Pohl has been working on solidifying all the licensure requirements that it takes and finalizing the plan and she is ready to sign the lease.”
Dr. Zupin noted while the lease is ready to sign, Pohl won’t actually be occupying the space for another few months.
The only question that was posed came from Board Member Jerry Bacon who asked about a cleaning fee that was included without a specific cost.
Dr. Zupin said the lessee would just be responsible for paying the hourly wage for a custodian to do a deep clean of the leased space two times a year. She added that a ball park figure was provided to give Pohl an idea of what to expect.
The board members went on to provide unanimous approval of the lease. Superintendent Zupin shared what she believes this will mean for NJ-SP and the community.
She stated, “We will now have two quality pre-schools on our campus and I think it’s great for North Judson, I think it’s great for San-Pierre, I think it’s great for Starke County in general.
The school board previously discussed the SEED program during meetings in September and October.
