Pulaski County could soon become a “Second Amendment sanctuary county.” A letter supporting the measure was read to the county commissioners Tuesday by resident Terry Young, who also happens to be running for commissioner this year.
“Gentlemen of the board, the people of Pulaski County who support the Second Amendment intend to present a resolution for an ordinance making Pulaski County a Second Amendment Sanctuary County,” Young read. “An agenda request has been submitted and pending approval to be heard and considered on February 3, 2020. We trust we have your support. Thank you, Second Amendment Supporters of Pulaski County.”
Such a resolution would presumably allow officials not to enforce certain laws that may restrict the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution. Young explained that other counties have been organizing similar measures, due to concerns about proposed legislation in Indiana and activities in other states.
County Attorney Kevin Tankersley said he hadn’t begun looking into any proposed language yet. Young said more information will be presented at the February 3 meeting.
